‘The Vicar of Dibley’ Auditions – 25th June 2018

We’re holding auditions for our Christmas play, ‘The Vicar of Dibley – The second coming’. More details about the play can be found by clicking here.

Audition pieces will be available on the night, but if you want to prepare, you can watch the TV episode as it is mostly based around the Christmas special.

Where: Gladstone Theatre, Port Sunlight.

When: Monday 25th June 2018 at 7:30pm

List of characters:

The Reverend Geraldine Granger (The Vicar) – A jolly down to earth female vicar. Principle role who is on stage for majority of the play.

Alice Horton (nee Tinker) – The blonde, scatter-brained, dim-witted but hugely lovable verger and best friend to Geraldine. Recently married to Hugo. Principle role.

Hugo Horton – A sweet natured, childlike man, also dim-witted but kind husband to Alice and son of David. Principle role.

David Horton – The stately and slightly pompous chairman of the village parish. Rigid and old-fashioned, he is the only other sane character in the village apart from the vicar! Principle role.

Frank Pickle – The dull but friendly parish secretary. Dubbed the most boring man in Britain! Principle role.

Owen Newitt – Local farmer and parish council member. A man with extremely poor personal hygiene and a huge crush on the vicar! Principle role.

Jim Trott – Is he a parish council member?… No no no no YES! An idiosyncratic but lovable character, also with a small crush on the vicar!

Mrs Cropley – Parish Council member and church organist. An unusual talent for “baking”. Principle role.

Vet – 6 lines in final scene

Woman in audience (one line) – only required for final scene and will be planted in the audience. No audition required, please get in touch if you are interested in this part.

Choir – we need a choir for the show to sing some Christmas Carols. If you’re interested in coming in the show to sing some festive songs, there’s no need to audition, but please get in touch to let us know you’re interested.

‘The Vicar of Dibley – The second coming’ Christmas special- 6th – 8th December 2018

Following on from the well received first Vicar of Dibley play some years ago, we’re thrilled to announce that this Christmas we are performing the sequel and Christmas special of the Vicar of Dibley!

The play follows some of the main themes of the classic TV episodes, featuring the vicar’s multiple Christmas dinners, and of course Alice’s spectacular scene… giving birth in a stable!

All of your favourite well-loved characters return to the stage this Christmas for what promises to be a fantastically festive and belly-laughing production.

Performances are at the Gladstone Theatre Port Sunlight on:

Thursday 6th December 2018 at 7:30pm
Friday 7th December 2018 at 7:30pm
Saturday 8th December 2018 at 7:30pm

‘The Importance of Being Earnest’ Auditions, 31st January 2018

We’re auditioning for our summer play ‘The Importance of a being Earnest’, a farcical comedy by Oscar Wilde.

Auditions are at 7pm on Wednesday 31st January at the Lever Club, Port Sunlight (upstairs in the bar room to the right).

My fair lady rehersals

Firstly congratulations to all of those who were cast in the principle roles!

Rehearsals for ‘My Fair Lady’ will start on Wednesday 3rd January 2018 at 7pm at the Lever Club in Port Sunlight.

The show is open to all so even if you’re not currently a member of the Port Sunlight Players, or would like to come and see what we are all about, you’ll be very welcome to come into the chorus so come along on the 3rd Jan.

Smaller parts are still to be cast and will be done so during rehearsals.

If anybody is interested in helping backstage with make up, costumes, props or even tea making please get in touch 🙂

My Fair Lady – March 21st – 24th 2018

MyFairLadyIn this beloved musical, pompous phonetics professor Henry Higgins takes it upon himself to transform cockney working-class girl Eliza Doolittle into someone who can pass for a cultured member of high society. Higgins and Eliza clash, then form an unlikely bond — one that is threatened by an aristocratic suitor.

Featuring a fantastic musical score including ‘Wouldn’t it be loverly’, ‘The rain in Spain’, ‘I could of danced all night’ and ‘Get me to the church on time’.

The show is running from Wednesday 21st March – Saturday 24th March at 7.30pm at the Gladstone Theatre, Port Sunlight.

Tickets are £15 and £10 concessions and can be bought from the box office at the theatre or online here.

My Fair Lady workshop and auditions

We’re holding a workshop for anyone thinking of auditioning for a principle part in ‘My Fair Lady’, for you to come along, hear the music and sing through the songs with our Musical Director.

The workshop will be on Monday 2nd October starting at 6:30pm at the Lever club in Port Sunlight. We have time slots for each character as follows:

Freddy    6.30 – 7.00
Eliza       7.00 – 7.45
Higgins   7.45 – 8 15
Doolittle  8.15 – 8.40
Pickering    8.40-9.00

Auditions for principle parts are being held on Sunday 8th October at the Gladstone Theatre, starting at 2pm and will run in the following order:

Alice in Wunderland AUDITIONS – 4th September 2017

Auditions for our December show ‘Alice in Wunderland’ will e held on Monday 4th September at 7pm at the Lever club, Port Sunlight. There will be a read through of the script for approx. 45 mins so you can get to know the characters, followed by auditions for the principle roles.

If you are interested in a singing part please bring along a song of your choice to sing.

Rehearsals for the show will begin Monday 11th September at the Lever Club and will be mostly Mondays and Wednesdays so please check that you are available on these nights before auditioning . We understand there may be the odd rehearsal you can’t attend, however you will be expected to come to most rehearsals.
